Ronnie’s interest in fundraising was sparked in the early 1980’s while volunteering with a church organization in Windsor, Canada. Assigned to assist terminally ill AIDS patients, she saw first hand the devastating toll that poverty and disease can take on a community.
Experiencing the disparity in health care access for the poor, she was inspired to advocate on their behalf and began a career in fund development. Ronnie then helped establish a welcome center for single mothers who were struggling financially and emotionally. Moved by the difficulties these women faced, Ronnie was able to secure funding for essential programs that promoted self-esteem, and provided higher education, advanced parenting skills and community involvement.
After moving back to New York, Ronnie worked for Eden ll School for Autistic Children for seven years and developed their Community Relations and Fundraising Department. She joined Community Health Action in 2002 as the Director of Resource Development. In that role, she has been an enthusiastic and compelling communicator, gaining the support of many elected officials, foundations, and religious institutions as well as recruiting committed allies for the agency.
She has been a member of the North Shore Rotary since 1998, and for many of those years served as a Board Member. Ronnie has been a Spiritual Director for the New York Archdiocese’s Center for Spiritual Development for the last 17 years. Since 1991, she has taught Sacramental Theology/Spirituality for adults at St. Francis Friary.
