CHASI’s
Expanded Syringe Access Demonstration Program (ESAP) aims to reduce
the risk of HIV infection and other blood borne diseases by educating
Staten Islanders, particularly substance users, diabetics, and body
builders, about access to clean syringes and the safe disposal of used
syringes. Our ESAP program has helped to establish several new sites
for safe syringe disposal, and has recruited local area pharmacists to
assist with improved access and disposal.
Under the health laws of New York
State, CHASI provides ESAP services (furnishing of sterile syringes
and other services) in six street-based locations and in our
storefront office at 380 Van Duzer Street. Please click on “Mobile
Health Unit” at the right side of this page for information about ESAP
hours and locations. And, for information about our ESAP services,
please email us at:
john.eddie@chasiny.org
or call us at 718-808-1355.
